Market position
Mathématiques Appliquées SA (MASA) is a vendor of advanced software products allowing the human factor to be integrated into adaptive systems. It was founded in 1996 through the spin-off of the Ecole Normale Supérieure’s bio-informatics lab in Paris. MASA specialises in developing software engines and products based on its unique skills in adaptive and intelligent technologies, such as human behaviour modelling, dynamic optimisation and statistical machine learning. These products are used to provide realistic modelling of human behaviour in simulation and crisis management systems (SCI technology) and to improve operational processes in the manufacturing, postal, transportation and environmental services industries (BlueKaizen technology).
Current position and outlook
MASA is working to extend its software range, in both sector and geographical terms. Its command post training and crisis management software is already used by the French military (Scipio system developed alongside Thales). This software has also been marketed to the US armed forces. The simulation and training softwares for the emergency services - « Homeland Security » - is being adapted per branch of industry (fire departments, local authorities dealing with crisis management of terrorist actions or natural disasters). The commercial opportunities of the BlueKaizen WasteManagement software, software which is already used by major French waste management companies are growing both in France and elsewhere in Europe. MASA has also moved into new sectors such as banking and insurance companies. Finally, the international expansion of the activity of semiconductors process control softwares continues with the ‘OEM’ integration of the products of leading editors, such as KLA Tencor (USA) and Camline (USA)
